Who is Carolina Alcantara?

Growing up in Brazil, Carolina was introduced to dancing ballet, jazz and samba at a very young age and fell in love with the art of  body movement. At age 17, Caro was diagnosed with a mild case of arthritis and her doctor recommended she add Pilates to her movement regime. 

In 2006, Carolina moved to the United States to pursue the “American Dream”.  She started a small cleaning business that was very physically demanding.  The work began to take its toll on her back and the hard physical work was wearing her body down.

Always ready and willing to reinvent herself, Caro decided to pursue a Nursing Assistant certification program to become a C.N.A. Working with elderly people, Caro realized that her favorite part of her job was helping her patients move their bodies. The job required helping patients get off their beds and develop many of their daily activities which also was a lot of straining in her body. 

In 2013, she found a Pilates Studio and began to take classes weekly which re-awaken her passion for Pilates. In just a few months, she noticed her back was better and her knees were not bothering her anymore.  She is fascinated with the benefits of body movement accomplished through Pilates and began to see herself teaching Pilates.

Growing up in her home town of Curitiba in Brazil, Carolina was introduced to dancing ballet and jazz at a very young age and fell in love with the art of body movement.

Her growing passion for dance also included Brazilian Samba and Axe. At age 17, Caro was diagnosed with a mild case of arthritis and her doctor recommended she add Pilates to her movement regime.

While Caro enjoyed Pilates, she had to put it on the back burner to focus on her studies as a full-time college student.

In 2006, Carolina moved to the United States to pursue the “American Dream”. To support herself, she started a small cleaning business that was very physically demanding.

The work began to take its toll on her back and the hard physical work was wearing her body down.

Completing 650-hour training, earning her comprehensive certification and as well teaching over 400 different bodies over the past 7 years has given Caro the tools she needs to be a strong, caring, educated and experienced teacher. She continues her studies attending several continuing education workshops and taking lessons with accomplished teachers from around the world. 

It became Carolina’s mission to show the work of Joseph Pilates to as many people as she can show the benefits of this wonderful method. Pilates is for every body. It strengthens and lengthens the body as it helps students find balance. She loves to share her passion for the method with her students. 

I am a very enthusiastic teacher. I continually search for more knowledge, studying the Joseph Pilates Method from his books, practicing and feeling the movements in my body so I can pass along to my students. 

One of the joys of my work is seeing my students increase their body awareness, minimize future injuries and often heal existing ones by keeping a regular Pilates practice. 

With my experience of watching bodies moving over and over, if you follow my program, I can guarantee you will learn a great method to teach you move your body efficiently in a painless and in a safe way.
